VinylVault In 2009...

I thought I'd bring this topic back to the top because it's been hot. 19 comments and still going.
Rob.

Wow...2009 is just around the corner and I always though we would be living like the jetsons by now! Lol. Well anyway I decided to post something about what I see in store for Vinylvault in 2009. Vinylvault has been open for about 4 months now and to me if feels like we've been open for more then that, and I'm the type of person that likes to think ahead to jump into something new. I'm already in the talks with Rob on making vinylvault into a forum website. I will be buying our own domain name I might have to change the vinylvault name to something new but we are not sure yet, the forum will have different topic sections like for example: DJ mixes & Radio Rips Section, Classic 12inch House Section,& Classic 12inch Freestyle Section. This will bring the opportunity for the public to check out our forum plus at the same time have certain sections for vip members only. What I also have in mind for the future is a Radio mixshow on the website doing classic mixes with rotating deejays. I wish that all this can happen overnite...lol. But I know it won't but I am doing my best to get this thing rollin asap. I know Rob is down for this move and I hope the rest of the vinylvault fam is also. We are not closing the blog anytime soon and we might not close at all after the forum is open. If anybody have any ideas or opinion on what we are doing please feel free to post some of your comments.--12inchjunkie & Rob

like the idea, maybe also do something i have always wanted to do but it has to involve people i know and trust with their skills. just as u said of some kind of radio show with rotation djs i have always wanted to do gigs with a crew where it would be in different places and its rotating djs or residencies for the djs and the other members have guest spots. there are like 4 places i know that are looking for djs in manhattan but its like some ask the stupid shit of making sure the first night is packed while others are waiting for me to have discussions with them. that would be cool with the kind of music we all love and play and each dj can play to their strenghs and such.im a member in a couple of meetup groups for djs and house, trance and techno lovers but they are all talk and rather spend there money on the big talent instead of building on the talent here. so get back at me rob, junkie, and anyone else in this forum. was thinking of making my own meet up group but with people that have the same desire and will to do it and not have one think they they above the rest.sorry but your ideas woke that up in me again, lol, and i bet with all the people we know shit could kick off.let me know what the rest of you think

Any change to make Vinyl Vault grow and be better I'm all for it. I love it now. So I look forward to see what are the changes are. Radio show sounds cool. I don't have my ones or twos anymore. But I've been in the process of purchasing my stuff and getting back into it again. I miss it. But been rusty. But like Summoneknight said the idea of it all has brought my desire burning even more to do mixing. Even if I do it for fun on the side. Sounds good fellaz. Thumsup from me, chaps!

All we have to do is make it happen...And I know we will!

hey masterchief would you go digital and still use the one and twos, lol. i do that,i have serato and live by it.all the ideas sound great and i have to say damn we have some good taste in music, lol look at the stuff we are sharing, lol

rob as far as serato goes it bare bones, you mix with cds or control vinyls and u can do some loops and such till the new update comes out with ableton since they join forces to combat traktor.ive tried traktor and torq and hate it,but at least i gave it a shot. as far as what happen to you with gigs and promotion trust me i know the feeling. i was blessed to be able to play at limelight, palladium, redzone, and cielo and there are so many places i go to and they are like desperate for edm . im going sat to this 80's party in the city and i spoke to the owner and told him my ideas he was like so into it that he got me 5 drinks on the house.i have to meet up with him to talk about stuff but im someone that likes having people enjoy stuff with me which is why i mentioned about the group and having multiple places. if we can all get to knowing and agreeing to some lvl and all have an equal part in the decisions then there are many ops for us out there. but im glad to see im not the only one that has shifty assholes stabbin in the back or as i said before im on meetup.com and all the groups im with are all talk. dont want talk, want action. so lets hope forum continues to grow and we all grow as individuals and maybe just maybe ,lol

I AGREE WITH EVERYBODY ON THE TOPIC LOVE THE BLOG NO DOUBT BUT HEY CHANGE IS GOOD AND ESPECIALLY WHEN IT BENIFITS EVERYONE SO I'M FOR THE IDEA...AS FOR DJING I'M LIKE A NOVICE I CAN USE A MIXER AND BLEND THATS NOT A PROBLEM ITS THAT THERES SO MUCH SOFTWARE THATS GOOD AND GARBAGE SO ITS LIKE STARTING OVER ONCE YOU START PLAYING WITH NEW STUFF LIKE ROB I'M USE TO THE OLD TURNTABLES EASIER LESS STRESS BUT SINCE THE DIGITAL AGE IS UPON US I HAVE TO GET INTO THE SWING OF THINGS LIKE I TOLD 12INCHJUNKIE I JUST STARTED MEESING WITH SOME PIONEER DIGITAL DJ SOFTWARE SO FAR SO GOOD BUT I'M BETTER WITH THE VIRTUAL DJ PROGRAM LESS STRESS EASIER TO MIX AND BLEND... BUT GOING BACK TO THE TOPIC ANY CHANGE TO MAKE VINYL VAULT GROW AND BE BETTER I'M ALL FOR IT. I LOVE IT NOW. SO I LOOK FORWARD TO SEE WHAT CHANGES ARE COMING AND WHAT ELSE WHAT CAN WE DO TO BE A UNIT LIKE WE ARE WE ARE AS STRONG AS THE LINK THE BINDS U 2GETHER!!!!

You something summonedknight, I love the vinyl. Always have and always will. But I probably won't go back to buying as much as I used to in the "vinyl ages" lol. Where I'd take mass transit excitedly and leave from one record shop to head over to another. Vinyl record hoppin'! LOL. But sometimes I'd think that it's a pain in da ass to be stocking up my milk crates up and make room for my turntables, speakers etc. Which all I would have to do on on the other hand with MP3's, is grab my HDD and bounce. I so want to jump on the Denon's. They're hot. Expensive. But hot. I want to get back into my music again that its making me get my Christmas gift for myself easier, lolol. With work being different atmosphere and not knowing what'll come next. I want to jump start mixing again. I'll make it happen. I can never let that go.
I'm feeling what you wrote, bro. I deal with it everyday. The haters, the nay sayers. Let those cats be the motivation is how I put it. It'll all come full circle at the right time. I say: "Don't talk about it. Be about it!!!" Great weekend to all!! Glad I found this place awhile ago now. Feels great to find a spot where cats such as y'all share the same compassion and excitement in this great music!! Keepin' it alive vibe here. Peace.

Rob the best dual cd player from Denon is the 2600s. Check em out when you get a chance.

lmao, Rob. I feel the same way sometimes when I post up. I see a word or two or what have you missing and feel like smacking my forehead. lol. but anyway, that's what life should be "To have heart is to make it all happen". sounds cheesy but heck like you said "with no heart there's just nothing...emptiness." Goodlookin' out with the Dennon info whenever u get the chance. peace out.

Thanks Rob. I'm gonna check that out. I believe those are great mixers yet pricey. I once went for a Pioneer mixer supposedly used at a club by DJ's Peter Rauhofer, Sash among others according to the promoter, which was the one selling it. Enventually the mixer ended selling for over a grand. Started around $50. Anyway, I'm gonna give those links a check.

ok i got some good mixers you guys can look esp if its for dance music mixing. of course nothing can be the urei rotary mixer but these are some good ones.

http://www.rane.com/empath.html#gpm1_4

that is a awesome rotary mixer by rane for dance music. runs for a grand and i have seen it for lower.

http://www.rane.com/ttm57sl.html

this is an awesome rane mixer that comes built in with serato scratch live and some awesome effects if your into that. but the best for me and is what i have and never leave the house is the one

http://www.rane.com/mp2016s.html

made after the urei and its worth the grand its asked for. awesome set up for club and booth. controls both as u can leave the club/home vol and worth with the booth.i cpuld never find the urei but this is the second best. i have always felt that rotaries are best for edm(house, trance, techno, freestyle) if you want top of the line then you need the xone series of mixers
by allen & heath but they will run you a bundle. hope you check these out.pioneers are ok but would never use one for edm mixing, i plan on getting the 3 channel rotary so when i need to dj and they dont have it at a club cuz imo faders are for hiphop & r&b/.

Anonymous said...

oh trust me rob i know they are expensive but compare to the others esp pioneer and xone they are not that bad and the ttm 56 is not that bad considering serato is 300 or so alone your getting the mixer for 200 if you look at it. all in all we can agree that when buying a mixer you want it to be like your 1200`s,reliable and great

as far as for us posting our tracks ,well it would be cool when you guys get your forum up and running and in the comment box like what im doing here we can post the link and also talk about the track and what it means to us and what we hope it will mean to you as how and junkie do with each post.but its also good that we send it to you as it is your blog and you decide what you want up.im cool with what you choose but i think the format of the forum would be cool that we can post it ourself. unless the comment box here can be moved to the main page them its cool. keep up the good work my people

I'm surprised this topic is still going and this is good...What I mentioned before our goal for the forum is to have certain sections for the public to post whatever 12s they want to post up and have certain sections for the vip members only. So It's going to be great to see how this will turn out. I'm off this whole week so this will give us a chance to start working on this project. Rob already gave me some ideas of some forum host to look into. Hey Rob check these out too the Denon DN-S1000 Compact CD/MP3 Player. I've deejayed with them a few times and I actually liked them and the price range is not bad, they run for $300 each. Especially if you just want something to mess around with. I noticed Everyone here is trying to help you get some decks...lol.

sorry to say but think it's a bad idea.. as it will draw more atttention to you and us and possibly trouble..

12InchJunkie said...

We'll I've seen so many forums out there that do the same idea that I'm thinking of and they've been on for years...I will make sure that everything will be legit before starting anything.

Anonymous said...

well junkie as you stated with you as admin and such things will be run correct and no problems will have ,i have seen a few where the spamming is bad but with good admin and mods looking out things will run good.you ban them if nes.

12InchJunkie said...

Very True Summoneknight I've seen forums that the spamming is ridiculous and they're also infected with tons of viruses and trojans . We will do our best for our forum to be spam free... With me and Rob being the main admins of the forum I know we will do a good job of handling it. Even though I'm going to want to add a couple more admin under us since its going to be a bigger site and with possibly thousands of users checking out the forum.we will set strict rules so that we will run the forum smoothly.

12InchJunkie said...

To NJDJ: As For the Forum I do plan to keep certain section private for posting full 12s not everyone in the public will be able to have this access. These sections will be very strict. We will know who will be eligible to get access to them. The rest of the forum that the public will be able to view will not be like the private sections.

hey junkie did you two ever check out ning.com to make the forum or you plan on more of buying a site domain stuff.also iasked rob this but want to know more from you junkie and the rest of the pack. so far i see house, freestyle and such but will it be covering all edm(trance, techno, chillout, trip hop) as well.also would the forum be as it is here, strictly vinyl burning mp3s or will it also include cd rips and mp3/wavs as well.

12InchJunkie said...

Summonedknight No I haven't seen that site you mentioned for the forum but I will look into it thanks for sharing it. Most likely I'm looking to buying the host with the complete package including the domain name and all though. As for covering all types electronic dance music yes most likely...I myself love collecting anything from disco,house,freestyle,80's nuwave,Techno,Trance,Tribal,Ambient-Chillout CDs (Which I have tons of that I would love to share)Basically everything...Just as long as they are full 12's,Lps,or compilations and considered CLASSICS, They don't have to be just vinyl rips also they can be in any format CD Maxi 12s/Mp3s, etc...When I created the blog my main focus was Classic House, Freestlyle and techno. I knew I was going to receive a good amount of people because I wanted to post the classics that no one was posting, Some blogs would post one good classics and like 5 garbage 12s. My main goal was to post classic after classic after classic. And That's what Me and Rob been doing. Rob was the first guy to notice what I was posting and since he had the same goal to make a blog like this one he decided not to make one and rather just help me build the blog up and work together to create one of the sickest blog on the net today. We both think alike when it comes for the love of classics and we both have the same goals. Thats why me and rob are a great team. I know for 2009 with the new forum we are going to have a great ideas.
