KenLou - Thru The Skies

What can i say about this masterpiece that not been mentioned before. I`ll admit I got into djing because of louie vega and have always been a fan of his freestyle and house music, heck i call him the king of freestyle( a quote i know all the berrios fans would beg to differ, lol) I`ll also be the first to admit that i feel ever since maw split they both have lost that flair that made them the remix kings of the 90`s. This masterpiece is the best song they ever made( with their remix of one step ahead by debbie gibson a close second), its pure tribal heaven. If you are a True house lover or for that matter a music lover you will feel the bliss that this song brings and can understand how this must be played early morning/afterhours. The main mix is just maw goodness with Terry burrus freestylin on the keys. I picture junkie, rob, and chief love this and i hope the rest of my vinyl vault fam feels the magic in this as i do.---Summonedknight!

What's up summonedknight...Yup Yup, I'll be one to differ on the king of freestyle. LOL I'll admit that Louie Vegas' Freestyle mixes are off the hook but for production wise on Freestyle, Carlos Berrios is the man. They split?? I don't think they split, I just feel that they're still together but they each release solo tracks and when it's time to do another collaboration, they just get to it. Tribal House is always a banger for me...Good post...

dont get me wrong berrios is the man, lol. as far as the split its very rare u see them together, but i do like there stuff that is released today but it doesnt have that magic that their old stuff had. look at the nuyorican soul album and then the our time is coming album,

I'm gonna have to keep Berrio's up on top. With his recent two productions (Sammy Zone/Rebecca) and the slammin' "Don't Look Back" CD's. He's still got that touch. I agree with their stuff losing it's "bang". I wish MAW were still making their stuff like the classics they've made. Whether break beats, house & remixs etc. I was one to reach for anything with the MAW name on the 12" sleeve or the printed heads, lol. That said "Do we need to say more" on the records that just bought themselves really, lolol. Good post bro.

This is definite early morning 6am House...Ken & Lou were great producers together. I'm not to crazy on what louie vega plays nowadays the last time i checked him out was early last year at decko lounge here in jersey. He did play a good set and all the tracks he played were top notch tracks. I'm just not to much into his sound anymore. But

mastechief i was the same way, anything with masters at work was picked up(double copy at that) without hearing it.wont do that now. i was the same way with a def mix production and id productions. i can say the same thing about todd terry, my god was this man a monster,i can see why they call him god. but todays stuff is so boring. its like ny lost its magic in producing when hip hop became mainstream.if we never lost our flair we would still be on top the house and freestyle market but we need fresh meat to bring out the old and the new here.but that imo and it hurts to see how good we were before and now its blah. junkie as you said the last time i heard louie kill it was in nov when he and david morales was playing in cielo.boy he played like his job in cielo depended on it.i like what he plays now sometimes but its like he wants to stick into the easy brazilian stlye of house and forget about talking to him with his friends acting like u cant ever say whats up. oh well i guess that is where you, rob, master, and i need to fill in the void and start producing those sounds, the vinyl vault sounds, lol. call ourselfs vinyl vault productions ,lol. there you go junkie something to add into what needs to be done in 09, form a production team

That sounds good to me a production team would be killer. and with the minds that we have who knows we could be the todd terry of the 21st century.
